Big Boy 4 year old

My little guy, my Wesley Woo Woo, told me tonight when I was putting him to bed that it was too bright in his room and to turn his light off.  Wesley, who has needed a light on to sleep since... well since as long as I can remember.  Birth, probably.  And tonight he told me to turn it off.  *sniff*

PS YAY!  I've been fretting over the energy waste / higher bill this entire time, but I've let him have his light because I'm such a benevolent mom and all.  :P

Sunday

Mom went home last night on a red eye, she finally got home about 11:30am this morning.  A tough ride any time, but especially because she is not feeling well.  The kids are both under the weather as well, but not as bad off as mom is.

Today started off slow, I got up with Wes at 8 or so, we watched a movie (well, he watched, I cat napped).  Coco came down at some point and was upset that we didn't wake her when we came down (huh?).  Then all 3 of us watched Shrek 2.  Shawn woke up towards the end of that and he was also a little upset that we didn't wake him earlier (what on earth?  are these people really my family?  LOL).

At that point I got up and made a Knifty Knitter hat for my neice, Emma.  I am going to make her a matching scarf tonight.  The colors turned out very pretty and Colleen wants a matching set.  :)

It was beautiful here today, so about noon or so we all went outside.  Shawn and Colleen went on a bike ride around the neighborhood.  Wes drove his Lightning around the street until the battery died, then he played with his scooter and his big wheel "motorcycle".  I worked on the front flower beds some more.   It's been a big project, the yard here is out of control, very overgrown!  I got almost all of front bed weeded (well, for the 2nd time,, I did it the first time before we left for Vegas) and we took a quick trip up to Home Depot for mulch to keep the weeds from coming back again so quickly.  We choose a shredded cedar mulch, it looks nice and it smells very good!

After Home Depot we stopped and had lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant.  The service there was "off" this time, highly unusual for them.  The strangest part is that they were quite slow, our waitress only had us and one other 2 person table.  The food was still great, though.  :)

Shawn and the kids got slushies on the way home, then the kids and I put the mulch down.  Or rather, Colleen helped me put the mulch down, Wes got in the way and "supervised" and Shawn high tailed it inside.  Smart guy knows when not to get in between a woman and her gardening goals.  :P  Plus I'd probably yell at him that he was doing it wrong.  Poor guy.

After I got the mulch down, Shawn came out and admired my work and he got Coco her allergy medicine.  I went to shower.  I don't have allergies that I know of, but when I do gardening work I get hives on my skin anywhere plant materials or dirt touches it.  As long as I shower right away I can usually avoid allergy medicine and they go away pretty quickly.  Wesley fell asleep on our bed waiting for me to get out of the shower.  He looked so cute and cuddley that after I got out I hopped into bed with him, snuggled up, and read for a while until I caught myself falling asleep.

I came downstairs and found Coco sleeping on the couch and Shawn is playing WoW.  I have been messing around on the computer for a little while now, but I think I am going to go back up and read some more.  I worked hard in the front yard today and I deserve a book break.  :D

Space Needle

We played tourist today and went to the Space Needle.  A good time was had by all... except me (I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and I have been grumpy ever since).  Oh, and we went at lunchtime without eating first, so we were all hungry for the entire 3.5 hours we were there.  And we stayed on the observation deck longer than the kids wanted to and when their patience ran out they let their displeasure be known to one and all.  BUT A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL, DAMMIT.  I SAID SO.

Besides, I did get some cute pictures out of the ordeal.  And my mom got a small fortune in souvenirs for everyone at home in the gift shop while the kids rode the carnival rides.

All things considered, I'll count this day in the "success" column.  :P

Happy Mother's Day!

Hello, Everyone!

Happy Mother's Day!

I got the cutest gift.  Shawn and Colleen went out yesterday to pick it out and I was nervous when they left because there was nothing my heart desired, I had just got a nice big Body Shop order (which was a gift enough for me) plus I've been buying all this Knifty Knitter stuff and making baby hats, etc with my mom.  I had no idea what they were going to come up with and I am just a worry wart of the absolute worst kind.

ALL FOR NAUGHT and I should have known better!

Colleen was beside herself this morning waiting for me to open the gift.  She started in on my at 7am and I stubbornly refused to leave the bed until 9am.  I should have just gotten up at 7 because I didn't get very much sleep between 7 and 9, but it was the principle of the matter, right?  LOL

So finally I get up at 9am and we all head down to the family room (where my mom is sleeping while she is here) with all of our cards and my gift bag.  Colleen is dancing around in excitement.  It is obvious that the gift meant very much to her.

I read the cards first, they were each very cute.  Shawn is great at picking out cards.

Gift time.

I take the tissue paper out, slowly.

I set it aside carefully without looking into the bag.  Naturally I'm going to reuse the paper so it is important that it not get crushed, besides it prolongs the moment.

Here it is... the moment of truth...

Shawn tells me that Colleen was insistent that THIS was the gift for me.  This is what I had to have for Mother's Day.

I look in the bag, and it is a Princess Aurora crown.  Colleen tells me it is because I am the queen of our family and I should have a crown of my own.

BEST. MOTHER'S. DAY. PRESENT. EVER!!!

I've been wearing it all day.  :)

Note to self: read this post again next year if I start feeling all control freak nervous again.
