7月29日 Cute JokeJesus and Satan were having an on-going argument about who was better on the computer. They had been going at it for days, and frankly God was tired of hearing all the bickering.
So Satan and Jesus sat down at the keyboards and typed away. Jesus worked with heavenly efficiency and Satan was faster than hell.
Then, ten minutes before their time was up, lightning suddenly flashed across the sky, thunder rolled, rain poured, and, of course, the power went off.. Satan stared at his blank screen and screamed every curse word known in the underworld. Jesus just sighed. Finally the electricity came back on, and each of them restarted their computers. Satan started searching frantically, screaming: "It's gone! It's all GONE! "I lost everything when the power went out!"
Meanwhile, Jesus quietly started printing out all of his files from the past two hours of work. Satan observed this and became irate. "Wait!" he screamed. "That's not fair! He cheated! How come he has all his work and I don't have any?" God just shrugged and said... JESUS SAVES!!!
7月13日 My Horoscope for TodayThere is apt to be a frenzy of activity associated with your movements and conversations today, dear Cancer. Take this opportunity to spring forth into a new dimension that you have been wanting to explore for some time. There is an urge for you to move beyond your current situation and at this point there is little reason for you to delay. Feel free to think of yourself as the royal that you are and take care of yourself as such.
How weird is that? Today I have people from Freecycle coming to get all the (1) furniture and baby stuff and (2) old fridge that we are not taking with us to WA. I have to be sure every room has only things in it to be packed for "final delivery" transportation, except the designated "temorary move" and "taking with us on the plane" room (our bedroom, one side for temp and one side for plane).
Tummy is full of butterflies, hoping I can get it all done in time. The movers could be here as early as 8am tomorrow morning.
I'm not sure what "treating myself like a royal" is supposed to mean. I'll have to figure that one out another time when I'm not so busy. LOL 7月12日 We have a hopperBrief Recap: Wesley had ATTT surgery (tendon moved from one bone of foot to the other) on June 10th to treat clubfoot relapse. He's been in a full leg cast ever since. He was not allowed to walk on it, or use his leg in any way for any reason for at least four weeks.
Just this week (a few days early) we stopped trying to prevent him from walking on the cast. It was a lost cause. He hobbles around like The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and he can even "run" like that.
A few minutes ago, Shawn's all, "Hurry, Hurry! You have to see this!"
Colleen and Wesley were dancing together and he was JUMPING. Both feet clearing the floor.
(shaking my head)
What will that boy think of next? 7月11日 I don't care who you are......THAT'S Funny!
(and I am one of the 23% that doesn't blame him for all of our country's problems!)
Hello, WA Friends! The time is near!
The next few days are going be hectic.
Today Shawn has the car, his NC coworkers are taking him out to lunch and then doing something after work, as well.
Tomorrow my Mom flies home, her flight leaves at 8am. What are we going to do without her?
There are no plans for Sunday (yet), except getting ready for the move and cleaning the house.
Monday the movers are here to pack.
Tuesday the truck is here to load.
Wednesday the transporter picks up the car.
Thursday we fly out to WA.
Friday we settle into temporary housing.
Our realtor is going to take us to our new house in WA either Saturday or Sunday so that we can show the kids and get reaquainted with it ourselves. We saw so many houses the weekend of our househunting trip that they are all starting to blur together in my mind. The house shows better in person than in the pictures on the MLS listing, and the listing does not show all the rooms of the house.
I am a nervous wreck over the move (less so than our move last year, but still stressed). I detest unknowns and there are a lot of them this time around.
The biggest is when our NC house will sell. We've not had any showings for it. I was kind of hoping it would be sold by now. LOL
The best part of the move is the group of ready-made friends we'll have when we get out there. I can't wait to meet everyone. I am so flattered by everyone's willingness to help and how accepting and friendly you all are. Heather, I am so glad you came across my blog way-back-when! Knowing you guys are out there and looking forward to meeting us helps to reassure me that this was the right decision for us.
I'm looking forward to this new chapter in our lives. :)

One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old and had just recovered from an accident. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a get-well gift and it was one of my favourite toys. Dad was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home. My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy, and she watches him drink it up. Then she says, (as only a mother would know...) : 'Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach to get water is the toilet?' ![]() 7月1日 Birthday SurpriseYesterday was my 30th birthday. Shawn surprised me with a visit from my best friend, Lauren, who lives in California. She arrived on Friday morning. Shawn told me he was going into the office for a meeting (in clothes that were WAY too casual, even for his casual-dress employer), and when he came home he had an unusual suitcase for my birthday present. The suitcase belonged to... Lauren! Who sprung up from her hiding place on the floorboards of the front passenger seat of our car. I was COMPLETELY surprised and started crying.
Shawn had one more surprise for us... a visit to the Biltmore Estate! I've always wanted to go and I was so afraid I wouldn't get chance to go before we moved. He had our tickets, an audio tour, our hotel, and even driving directions printed out and ready for us. I'm the one who usually takes care of these types of things, the fact that he did, that he thought about it down to that level, is very cool. I'm impressed. :)
We drove up Friday late afternoon. We stopped 1/2 way there and ate dinner at Sagebrush Steakhouse, where our drinks were served in canning jars (gotta luv the South!) and we dined on the appetizer platter and salads. After we checked into the hotel we went out in search of fun. We road Go Carts and then decided to find a local bar. The one we found had a sign on the door "Members Only, Private Club". Well, shoot. We had already walked up to the door, so we decided to see what this sign was all about. We figured that we were still young(ish) and cute - they'd let us in. WRONG! I have a feeling Members Only, Private Club is going to be an inside joke of ours for the rest of our lives. :P
We ended up at Applebees where we each had 1.5 drinks and shared an applie pie a la mode dessert. After a stop at "Ingles" grocery store (we needed tooth paste, face mask, and garlic - best not to ask!) we went back to the hotel for a fun night of watching HGTV.
We went to the Biltmore on Saturday, it was busy! They said they expected 4000 people to come through that day. HOLY MOLY. The house is huge, and opulent, and a walk-through history lesson. I'm glad I got to go. We toured the house first (the audio tour is a MUST), then we checked out the gardens. I got a Strawberry Daquiri. I couldn't believe that there was a little cart right behind the Conservatory actually selling alchoholic drinks. It wasn't half bad, considering. :) Then we made the short trip over to the winery and did wine tasting. Poor Lauren. Lauren actually drinks wine and knows what she is talking about when it comes to tasting and buying it. Me? I bought a bottle of champaigne simply because it was called Pax de Deux (dance of two) and had a pink label with ballerina slippers on it. Lauren was fit to be tied because I didn't even try it first. Now why would I pay $3 to try it? Doesn't matter what it tastes like to me, I have no intentions of drinking it. I just liked the pretty bottle and the name. I don't think she's over that yet, I drive her crazy! LOL
After wine tasting and some time in the wine shop (where I bought crazy amounts of dip mixes because they had bowls of the stuff out to taste and I was starved), we had lunch at the little outdoor bistro right next to the winery. I had bruchetta and creme brulee for lunch, very heathful! LOL
It had started to rain, so we decided to skip the farm and head on home. We took Lauren to our favorite Vietnamese restaurant on Sunday and then yesterday (Lauren's last day with us), she and I went to Cheeseburger in Paradise (where we had fun fruity drinks garnished with "parrots" and "lizzard lips") and then had pedicures. I had my toes painted blue and had stylized American flags painted on my big toes. Happy 4th of July! It just about killed me to take Lauren back to the airport, it is very rare for us to get to hang out like that (the last time was her wedding, and the time before that was the weekend after I found out I was pregnant with Colleen, and she turns 5 in two weeks!)
It was hard for me to leave behind the stress and to-do lists, but it was a wonderful present. Shawn and Lauren outdid themselves.
Yay!
Love, Jen Lauren:
Me:
The Biltmore Estate, huge stone staircase is on the other side of those windows.
The Turtle fountains out front of the estate, they were used as watering troughs for horses.
Me at Cheeseburger in Paradise, about to enjoy my "Lady of the Sea" drink.
Upcose of my drink, decorated with a "parrot"
More drink garnishes. The bottom one is "Lizzard Lips", a lime in an orange, wearing a sunglasses pin and sticking out a pineapple leaf tongue. The top one is a strawberry with a beach umbrella, sunglasses, and also sticking out a pineapple leaf tongue. We had a blast and I did eat the garnishes. Yum!
